Why should I pick Power9 Consultants over other consulting firms?
Being associated with Power9 is a door opener for you. Having developed a reputation for providing top quality services, Power9 has become one of the most prominent consulting firms in the St. Louis area. In addition, we offer a great compensation package for our employees, complete with company matching 401(k) and super medical and dental plans, life insurance, and short and long-term disability.

To support our consultants, we employ a team of marketing representatives to continuously find new opportunities and an operations group to keep our consultants informed and satisfied

We hire consultants as employees and go to great lengths to foster a company environment. Since we consider consultants an ongoing investment, we offer tuition reimbursement and support other career development strategies.

What is the hiring process like?
Although the hiring steps might vary depending on the candidate and the candidate's situation, in most cases a recruiter will first interview you. When you come in for this interview, you might also meet with the marketing representative, who has better knowledge of the openings and requirements. Next, you will undergo a technical interview to evaluate your experience and background as it pertains to our requirements.

At this point, the marketing representative presents you for positions. This means we are sending your resume, in our format, to our clients. If your resume is accepted, you will then interview with our client. If the client determines that you are a good match, the client will then contact us.

Sometimes we are in a position to "hire to the bench." This means that we have enough openings to confidently place a candidate with excellent credentials. In this situation, we hire a candidate who has not be accepted by a potential client, but has a strong enough background that we feel will be easily placed.

Will there be a company orientation before I begin my project?
Most consultant orientations are conducted in our office prior to the client start date. If that is impossible, the assigned Operations Manager will meet with you at the client site for orientation.

Will I receive training before I begin my project?
The client usually hires you because of your experience. However, in some cases, training on a specific or proprietary software is needed. This type of training is agreed upon upfront and you will know ahead of time the amount and type of training you will receive on your new project.

Will there be other consultants at the client site?
Again, that depends on client site. Many times we will have multiple consultants at a given site. However, at some of the smaller companies, we will only have one or two consultants.

Is there someone at the client site I can ask questions about Power9 or the client?
Yes. Depending on the client you might have several options. At many of our client sites, you will have a site facilitator. These are fellow consultants who have been with Power9 several years and often have been with the client just as long. The site facilitators are there to answer your questions about Power9 or the client and keep you informed on upcoming company events and/or training opportunities.

If your site facilitator cannot answer your questions, your operations manager will be able to help you. Your operations manager is your advocate within the company and just a phone call away. Our operations managers also visit client sites frequently to ensure everything is going smoothly.

Do you offer Green Card Sponsorship?
Yes. Power9 partners with consultants who need Green Card Sponsorship. We share in the cost and commitment in obtaining Green Cards for our consultants who are on long term assignments.

What happens when my project ends?
At Power9 Consultants we hire employees, which means our objective is to keep you working. Weeks before you complete your first project, we are marketing you for the next project. If, for some reason, we are not able to start you immediately upon completion of your first project, we may carry you "on the bench." This means that you are paid your regular salary for the time in between projects.

When I "hit the bench" or roll off a project, do I have a choice in my next project?
Sometimes, yes. It depends on the opportunities that are available at the time you finish your last project. We attempt to find a position that will be challenging and available when you are. Sometimes, particularly on short-term projects, the new position may not be the consultant's first choice. We always listen to our consultants and make every effort to keep them satisfied at the client site.
